Three Kitties

I've had a rough day yesterday and then when I checked my schedule of cards that needed to be uploaded I thought I had missed the deadline of two of them.  Fortunately, for me one of the deadlines had been extended so I only missed one of them!  I was also able to leave writing this post until today which gave me a bit more breathing space!

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:
Lia Stampz - Use ribbon
http://liastampz.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/challenge-87-use-ribbon.html
Craft Your Passion - Anything Goes
http://craftyourpassionchallenges.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/challenge-259-always-anything-goes.html

I have used a paper from a paper pad by Rosie's Studio along with pearls from a matching set.  I added some wide ribbon from the purchase I made about a week and a half ago.  I used some gold paper for matting the image.  The image is from Lia Stampz and has been repeated three times to give a row of kitties.  I coloured with copic markers E53 and E51.

Freddy Frog

For some unknown reason, I really struggled with this image.  I ended up going with a CAS design which was not really what I wanted to do!  However, time is running out on the challenge so CAS it is!

The Outlawz Freebie challenge - April
http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/freebie-progressive-challenge/forum/topics/progressive-freebie-challenge-april-1st-2015

I have used a striped paper for the background - not sure if this one is Kaisercraft or Rosie's Studio.  The sentiment however is from a Kaisercraft paper pad (Sandy Toes).  The image is from Enrico and coloured in copic markers then die cut with a Spellbinder die.  I added some red pearls to the sentiment and some blue ric-rac style ribbon from my recent bargain purchase.

Come Fly with Me

I decided to work with a soft colour palette for this one:

I have used a paper from a paper pad by Kaisercraft.  The "smile" sentiment is a die-cut from the same paper pad.  The image is from Sassy Studio Designs and is coloured with copic markers.  I added some organza ribbon and a bow to the card.  I also added Stickles - Frosted Lace to the butterfly wings and some faux stitching around the image.

I have used a paper from Nitwit Collections with a piece of self adhesive fabric added.  The image is from Kenny K and is coloured with copic markers.  I matted with some cardstock from Rosie's Studio.  The embellishments are some leather shoestring and some rose shaped butttons.

Spring Window

It's time for a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs.  This week our theme is Spring/Greens and you can find the challenge here.   We are being sponsored this week by Bugaboo Stamps and Sassy Studio Designs.

I have created two cards this week:

using Butterfly Effie Portrait from Sassy Studio Designs

using Spring Window from Bugaboo Stamps

For the first card using the Sassy Studio Designs image I also used a background paper from a Kaisercraft paper pad.  The image is coloured with copic markers and then the butterflies have been highlighted with Stickles.  I added some butterfly embellishments and pearls to each corner of the card.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Inspiration Destination - Anything Goes
http://ema-ginationstation.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/AG-30.html
Brown Sugar - Anything Goes
http://brownsugarchallenge.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/challenge-143-anything-goes.html

For the second card using the Bugaboo image, I used a paper from a paper pad (not sure of the brand).  I added some ribbon from the bargain lot I purchased recently.  I also added some gems on top of the ribbon.  I have had some spring embellishments for some time that I hadn't even opened the packet so decided to use this combo of the frame and flower on this card.  The image is coloured with copic markers and I added Stickles to the dragonfly and butterfly.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
CHNC Patterned Paper - April Challenge
http://craftyhazelnutspatternedpaper.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/craftyhazelnuts-patterned-paper-april.html

Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Anything Goes
http://lilpatchofcraftyfriends.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/challenge-8.html

January Page

I have had this paper pad for about 12 months and wanted to create something with it but couldn't quite decide what.  I decided to create a "calendar" minus the dates - something that I can use each year and have a different picture to look at each month.  I have been known to do this with old calendars but then the dates on them can get confusing!

I would like to enter my project into these challenges:
The East Wind - Fibrelicious
http://www.theeastwind.com/
Open Minded Crafting Fun - Shabby Chic
http://open-mindedcraftingfun.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/challenge-35-shabby-chic.html

I have used white cardstock for the base which I then inked with Distress Ink - Vintage Photo.  The January page was double sided and I wanted to use the tag and postcard from the reverse so I cut them out and then covered the hole with the image and part of the postcard!  The image is from The East Wind and is coloured with copic markers E00, E53, E51, YR02 YR00, YR000 and BG000.  I also added some fibre across the card, some dots of Liquid Pearls, a chipboard tag that came from the same pack as the paper pad and some white flowers which I inked the edges of with Distress Ink - Vintage Photo.

I don't usually attempt Shabby Chic but this time I decided not to avoid it!  I'm pleased with the result although not really sure whether it has captured "Shabby Chic" or not!

Spring Blessings

A card without any DP - nice to do this for a change!

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:
From The Heart Stamps - Sketch #106 plus twist (two word sentiment)
http://fromtheheartstamps.com/community/2015/04/20/i-heart-card-sketches-with-a-twist-no-106/
Craft Your Passion - Anything Goes
http://craftyourpassionchallenges.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/challenge-258-always-anything-goes.html

I sprayed my card blank with two different colours of Dylusions Ink and added the sentiment from From The Heart Stamps (I was surprised at how many two word sentiments I actually had!).   The image is also from From The Heart Stamps and has been coloured with copic markers Y06, Y02, YR04, YR02, YG09, YG06.  I matted with some paper from a paper scrap pack that I bought a few weeks back.

Here is the sketch I followed

Buttons and Bows

I have had this lovely image from Eureka Stamps for a little while but due to a very hectic couple of months haven't had the time to work with it.  Now that I'm starting to find I have a little more time, I can enjoy creating with it.

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:

CHNC  Patterned Paper - April
http://craftyhazelnutspatternedpaper.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/craftyhazelnuts-patterned-paper-april.html

The paper is one from Rosie's Studio that I have had for some time.  It works perfectly with this image.  The image is from Eureka Stamps and has been coloured with copic markers E00, E43, E41, E35, E31, B02, B00, R22, R20.  I used a Spellbinders die to cut out the image.  I also added some satin ribbon from my wonderful purchase last weekend - this was one of the smaller pieces of ribbon in one of the bags.  The buttons are flower shaped craft buttons.

Floral

I've combined a few challenges here as I was having a bit of a creativity block!  I decided to just pick a few challenges and make them work together.

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:
The Corrosive Challenge - Floral Fantasy
http://corrosivechallengesbyjanet.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/challenge-222-floral-fantasy.html
Digi Sketch Challenge - Sketch + Flowers
http://digisketchchallenge.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/f-is-for-flowers.html
The Outlawz Tuesday Challenge - Tic Tac Toe (top line)
http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/tuesday-color/forum/topics/colour-challenge-21st-april-2015

The background paper is one from a paper pad by Teresa Collins.  I added some yellow lace from Sullivans across the paper.  Then I varied the sketch a little!  I cut the image from The Stamping Boutique into a larger square and then I overlapped the piece on the side rather than overlapping the image over it.  I added some rose shaped buttons as embellishments.

Steampunk Cindy To the Ball

I tried something a  bit different with this time - I used Gelato to colour the image.  It was a bit tricky with the brush I was using but I'm pleased with the result.

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:
Lacy Sunshine - Steampunk, Shabby Chic and/or Vintage (Steampunk)
http://lacysunshinechallengeblog.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/challenge-56-steampunk-shabby-chic-or.html
Chocolate Coffee and Card Challenge - Use A Die-Cut
http://chocolatecoffeecards.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/chocolate-coffee-cards-challenges-89.html
Inspiration Destination - Anything Goes
http://ema-ginationstation.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/AG-30.html

I have used a lightly patterned paper from Creativ for the background.  The image is Steampunk Cindy to the Ball from Lacy Sunshine.  I used three colours of gelato and a brush and some water to colour the image.  The skin tone is done with copic marker E00.  I also added some black mesh ribbon  and some cogs which I cut from white cardstock offcuts coloured with gelatos using a couple of Memory Box dies.

Fairy Jar

I thought I'd include the original item in the photograph too!  I drink alot of hot chocolate as I don't drink tea or coffee so I have quite a few of these.  I thought it was about time I bought one of them to some use!

I would like to enter my project into these challenges:
Open-Minded Crafting Fun - Recycle Something
http://open-mindedcraftingfun.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/challenge-34-recycle-something.html

I painted the Drinking Chocolate container with a couple of layers of Gesso.  I then sprayed three different colours of Dylsusions Spray over the container.  The image is from Dr Digi and is coloured with copic markers with some Stickles added to the wings and some Glossy Accents to the star.  I also added some layered stars around the container but didn't photograph these (I probably should have though!)

Christmas Book

I bought some new sheets for the beds and they came with a piece of cardboard in between.  I looked at the piece which was folded sort of like a ringbinder and knew I just had to use it to create a book cover.  I have another five of them that I haven't used yet too!

I would like to enter my project into these challenges:
Open-Minded Crafting Fun  - Recycle Something

Glitter n Sparkle - Anything But A Card
http://glitternsparklechallengeblog.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/challenge-133.html

So as well as the recycled cardboard packaging, I have used a Memory Box Stencil along with two colours of Distress Ink to create the background on some white paper which I then used to cover the front.  I added some strips of washi tape and a length of self-adhesive tape across the front.  To the left is some white self-adhesive "lace" - imitation lace really.  The image I used comes from Limited Runs and has been repeated to create a strip of three ornaments.  I coloured with copic markers and then matted onto some red cardstock from Rosie's Studio.

The paper I have used for this card comes from a christmas paper pad by Kaisercraft.  I used an image from Deedee's Digis and coloured it with copic markers.  I added some stiching around the image, the tag printed on the paper and also the outer edge of the card using a Distress Marker (Peeled Paint).  I die-cut a double ended pennant from some self-adhesive fabric and added a button over the top.

Thinking of You

Sometimes it is nice to send a Thinking of You card -  just because!

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:
Friday Sketch Challenge - Sketch #92
http://fridaysketchchallenge.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/sketch-92.html

I have used some mulberry paper with three pieces of offcuts from a paper by Nitwit Collections over the top.  The image is from Zuri Artsy Crafty and is coloured with copic markers.  I decided I would also add some bling to the top right - even though that isn't in the sketch!

Spring Flowers in Navy, Pink and White

A bit of a different colour scheme for this one - inspired by the challenge at Brown Sugar.

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:
Brown Sugar - Navy, Pink and White
http://brownsugarchallenge.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/challenge-142-navy-pink-white.html
QKR Stampede - Spring Flowers
http://qkrstampede.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/qkr-stampede-challenge-135-spring.html

I have used a patterned paper from Kaisercraft for this card.  The image is from QKR Stampede and is coloured with copic markers RV06, RV02, RV23, RV21, B39 with some Glossy Accents on the flower centres.  I have used some blue ribbon and white flowers I bought at the weekend - I've created a post here showing the bargains I bought!  I also used some pearls in two different sizes.

My wonderful purchase at the weekend

My daughter is studying costume design and construction so was interested in attending the Open Day of the Opera Company particularly as she could look at their costume department.  As part of the day they had some costumes that were no longer required on sale for $1 - she bought six and some of those only for the fabric in them!  They also had a table of "trims" and things for 50cents per bag (although some things weren't in a bag such as ribbon on a spool).  We managed to spend $10 on these - $8 of that was items I thought I could use in my cardmaking!

I decided to take a couple of pictures of my purchase:

Looking at the ribbons in the bags there appears to be at least five pieces of ribbon per bag and a piece I pulled out of the yellow bag is about 2 metres long!  I know that the rhinestones are normally $2 per packet and this one is unopened.

I wish we had made it there earlier in the day as there may have been more to choose from but we had another committment first!   I'm very happy with what I did find though and look forward to using it on my cards.

Update - It is now September and I still have heaps of this still left!  I have used alot of the blue satin ribbons, and a bit of some of the rest of the stuff!

My Two Favourite Colours

My two favourite colours are yellow and orange.  For a while though, I never crafted in those colours.   But I ended up with a heap of stash in those colours so have started using them to craft with.  They are such happy sunshiney colours.

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:

Inspiration Destination - Anything Goes
http://ema-ginationstation.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/AG-30.html

I have used a background paper from Rosie's Studio.  The image is from Sassy Studio Designs and coloured with copic markers E00, E43, E41, YR04, Y06, Y02.  The bow is created from some ribbon that I bought at the weekend.  My daughter wanted to check out the New Zealand Opera "Behind The Scenes" Open Day.  They had some old costumes being sold really cheap along with some trims and stuff.  My daughter ended up buying some costumes and some trims but I managed to get alot of little bags of trims suitable for cardmaking for 50 cents per bag.  This ribbon is just one in a mixed bag of yellow ribbons - I must have about 5 metres or so for 50 cents!

Anyway, back to the card.  The matting and the flowers have been die-cut from some orange mulberry paper.  It is quite a heavy weight paper so the flowers sit well.  I embellished the flowers with a little stickles and some pearls coloured with copic Y06.  I also added some clear rhinestones to the top of the card.

You Rock

I wanted to do a boy's card for a change - usually I steer away from masculine cards!  It is so hard not adding a heap of girlie things but I think I just wanted to challenge myself.

Faux Embossing

It's time for a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs.  This week the theme is Faux Techniques.  I had just read an article in a magazine about Faux Embossing and wanted to give that a try.

This week's sponsor is Dilly Beans and I used this lovely image called Daisy Girl Framed

Ballroom Canvas

In my bid to try and add a bit of colour to the white walls surrounding me, I have taken to creating a few canvasses.  This one is the second I have finished:

I would like to enter my canvas into these challenges:
Sassy Studio Designs - No Cards Allowed
http://sassystudiodesigns.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/no-cards-allowed-dtbst-276.html

I added some colour to the canvas using some Distress Inks.  The images are both from Sassy Studio Designs and coloured with copic markers.  I have also used a gold doily, some Gelato and some pearls from Rosie's Studio.

Little Girl and her Bunny

I have had some adhesive fabric sitting unopened in my craft stash for at least a year (more likely three!).  I came across it when choosing what to use with this image and decided it was time it saw the light of day!

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:

I have used a background paper from Creative.  The floral piece is adhesive fabric.  I matted with red cardstock from Rosie's Studio.  The image is from A Day For Daisies and is coloured with copic markers E77, E71, RV69, RV34, E00, E02, E43, E41,   I also added some Stickles to the wings.  I added some velvet shoestring around the top layers and tied it in a bow.

This is the sketch that I followed:

I just altered the top layer (image and matting) to more of a square shape.

http://alldressedupchallenges.blogspot.no/2015/04/challenge-32.html

I have used a lilac coloured paper from Nit Wit Collections for the background.  I added some pink mesh ribbon over the top.  The image is from All Dressed Up and has been coloured with copic markers.  I used a fancy square die from Spellbinders to cut out the image and sentiment.  I also added a bow crafted from some bakers twine along with 3 mis-matched pink buttons from a mixed button pack (nothing in the pack matches!)

Lia

These colours remind me of my high school colours.  They work well together but i often don't use them for crafting because of the memories they evoke!  I decided to "get over it" and actually create with them!

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:
Lia Stampz - Colour Inspiration\
http://liastampz.blogspot.co.nz/2015/03/challenge-86-color-scheme.html

I have used a glossy paper from a paper pad by Kaisercraft.  The sentiment is also from a paper pad by Kaisercraft.  The image is from Lia Stampz and is coloured with copic markers.  I die-cut using a Spellbinder Labels die.  I also used some brown mesh ribbon.

Steampunk

I went through a stage a while back when I made quite a few Steampunk themed cards.  For some reason, I haven't made any recently - until now that is!

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:
Kenny K - Steampunk
http://kennykskraftykrew.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/challenge-192-steampunk_1.html

I have used a paper from a paper pad by Creativ - the colours matched the colours I was working with.  I coloured a piece of scrap paper from a scrap pack with various coloured Gelatos from the Steampunk set and then die cut the cogs from that.  The image is from Kenny K and has been coloured with copic markers - forgot to note the colours down but I think they were E00, C5, BV08, Y28, YR23, E35.

From The Heart Stamps - Sketch #104 + Twist

I have used a paper from a paper pad by Kaisercraft called Sandy Toes.  The tag with the pennant shape on it also comes from the same paper pad.  I added some zig-zag grosgrain ribbon from Francheville.  Colouring is with copic markers BG01, BG00, B000, C5, C1, Y000, G000, G02.  I matted with black cardstock from Rosie's Studio.

Here is the sketch that I followed

Spring Canvas

We have a lot of creamy white walls with nothing on them.  I decided I would fix that by creating a few canvasses.  This one is my first one which I decided to focus on a floral theme:

Eureka Stamps - Spring Flowers
http://eurekastamps.blogspot.co.nz/2015/04/eureka-stamps-challenge-135-spring.html

I have used a medium sized canvas for this one - 24cm x 30xm.  I sprayed the canvas with Dylusions Ink and then dripped a different colour randomly over that.  It wasn't my intention originally to drip but the spray wasn't working and I didn't have time to see if i could fix it!  Actually, I rather like the effect of the drips anyway.  The image is from Eureka Stamps and has been sized up considerably.  I coloured with copic markers YG06, YG03, G07, G05, RV23, RV21, Y08, Y02, BV02, BV00.  I die-cut several embellishments using Memory Box dies and some scrap paper from a scrap pack.  I added some small pearls to the bodies of the butterflies and some larger pearls to the canvas itself.

Black and White Birthday Wishes

I have created a few white on white cards but not many black and white ones.  I was surprised how much in the way of embellishments and papers that i do actually have that are black and/or white!  So, I really enjoyed creating this one.

On another note, I am really pleased to see the Dilly Beans challenges back again - I had missed joining in on them.  This is the second one this year - I didn't spot the first one until after it had closed!

April Showers bring May Flowers

We've got the April showers today but I don't think they'll be bringing flowers as we are heading into winter.  The temperatures are starting to cool a bit and staying inside is looking more attractive!

Tina Tulips

I'm not sure why I went with a pink colour scheme with this one - but at least I used some of the paper I've been hoarding!  I seem to have a habit of hoarding things that come with magazines - probably because I know I can't just walk into a shop and buy another one!  As if I haven't hoarded enough paper anyway!  The same seems to go with buttons and mesh ribbon - even though I do use them I have bought that much that some ends up hoarded!  I think I'm just a chronic hoarder.

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:

The paper I have used comes from NitWit collections.  The image is from Lacy Sunshine and has been coloured with copic markers E00, B05, B000, RV23, RV21, YG03, YG00, E35, E31.  I also added some Stickles to the tulips. I have also used some pink mesh ribbons, some pink flower shaped buttons and then die-cut a butterfly using a Memory Box die and some pink paper from a paper scrap pack.
