Garden Cat Pots

Last post of the day before I leave for a cardmaking class!

I am entering my card into these challenges:
Catch The Bug - August Colour Challenge
http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/august-color-challenge.html

I have used a paper from Kaisercraft.  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and colorued with copic markers.

Smile

I decided to work with the cute factor of this image - and with all those smiles I just couldn't resist this particular sentiment!

I am entering my card into these challenges:
Gerda Steiner - Progressive Challenge
http://gerdasteinerdesigns.com/challenge2/2014/8/1/augusts-challenge-kid-in-pumpkin-costume

I have used a green paper from Kaisercraft.  The spider web die is from Memory Box and has been cut from Shimmer cardstock by DCWV.  The image is the progressive challenge image from Gerda Steiner and has been coloured with copic markers.  The sentiment is from Digital Doodling and cut using a Spellbinders scallop circle die.  I also added some cream coloured pearls.

You are the most beautiful flower

This is such a beautiful sentiment:

Brown Sugar - Anything Goes

Glitter n Sparkle - Use some butterflies
http://glitternsparklechallengeblog.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/challenge-99.html

I have used a paper from Rosie's Studio for the background.  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and has been coloured with copic markers.  The die-cut is from Spellbinders.  I also added some strands of bakers twine and three black pearls.

Oh Happy Day

For me, it is always a Happy Day when I visit the beach.  There is something soothing and calming about the beach - even on a winter's day.

I am entering my card into these challenges:
Open Minded Crafting Fun - Summer
http://open-mindedcraftingfun.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/challenge-17-last-days-of-summer.html
Flat Friends - Say it with a quote
http://flatfriendschallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/challenge-23-say-it-with-quote-x.html
Craft Your Passion - Summer Fun
http://craftyourpassionchallenges.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/challenge-228-summer-fun.html

I have used a paper from Kaisercraft that looked very bright and summery.  The image is from Flat Friends and coloured with copic markers E00, E43, E41, YG03, YG00, RV21, Y02.  The sentiment is from the same paper pad as the backing paper.  I also added some glittery domes.

Old Boots

The only thing on this card that has been created without the use of ink is the pearls!

I am entering my card into these challenges:
Vandicrafts - Just Ink
http://vandicrafts.com/vandicrafts-artistry-challenge-week-5-just-ink/
Beccy's Place - Anything Goes
http://beccysplace.blogspot.com.au/2014/08/august-challenge.html

I have used white card blank together with Distress Ink - Old Paper and a foam tool to create the background.  The matting is Distress Ink - Vintage Photo applied directly to the cardstock.  The image is Old Boots from Beccy's Place.  I inked a craft sheet with both Distress Ink colours (separately) and picked up the colours with a wet paint brush to colour the image.  I added some matching pearls as a corner embellishment as it just seemed to need that something extra.

School Time

I had a bit of trouble with photographing this card.  I went to take a photo and discovered my camera battery was flat so I borrowed my son's camera and took this photo:

I put my battery on to charge and managed to charge it enough to get this photo:

Now I just need to figure out why I got a colour difference!  You will also note that I added some pearls while my battery was charging as I thought there was too much white space!

I am entering my card into these challenges:
Brown Sugar - Let's Get Krafty
http://brownsugarchallenge.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/challenge-108-lets-get-krafty.html
Lacy Sunshine - Back To School
http://lacysunshinechallengeblog.blogspot.gr/2014/08/challenge-40-back-to-school.html
Glitter n Sparkle - Add butterfly
http://glitternsparklechallengeblog.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/challenge-99.html
Creative Colours - Green, Pink, Yellow and Pearls
http://creativecolorschallenge.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/creativecolorschallenge17-and-dt-call.html

I have used a paper from a matstack by DCWV called A Type of Art.  The kraft cardstock is from Rosie's Studio.  The image is from Lacy Sunshine and has been coloured with copic markers.  I matted with shimmer cardstock from DCWV.  The butterfly die is one that came free with a magazine and I added some pearls to it as it looked a bit lost without some antennae!

I was that busy trying to deal with the issues with my camera, I forgot to add the colour inspiration for Creative Colours!  My apologies - here it is now:

Christmas Present

Another Christmas card - which is almost monochromatic!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:
Sassy Studio Designs - Create own paper
http://sassystudiodesigns.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/dtbst-243-create-paper.html
CHNC - Merry and Bright
http://craftyhazelnutschristmaschallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/chnc-challenge-191-merry-and-bright.html

I had a blast creating my own paper - I haven't done this in a long time!  I used some Adirondack Dye Ink Pads - Mountain Rose, Cranberry and Currant.  I started with the lightest one (and a shaving brush) and worked through to the darkest one stippling over the page.  Once I had a nice coverage, I inked up a wooden stamp (brand is not on the stamp!) and stamped it over the top using Currant.

The image is from Sassy Studio Designs and has been coloured with copic markers E00, E35, E31, YG09, YG03, R59, R46.  I used a Spellbinder Beaded Oval die to cut the image and then added some red bling.  I also used some Christmas tree ribbon from Sugar and Spice Studio.

Thank U

This sentiment works perfectly for Thank You cards for Science teachers!

I am entering my card into these challenges:

Kitty Birthday Wishes

I pulled out one of my acrylic stamps and used that with some wet embossing (which I also haven't done in ages).  I wanted to try something I read in a magazine.  But .... I couldn't find the article so I tried to do it from memory!  Not sure if I got it right or not.

I am entering my card into these challenges:
CRAFT Challenge - Sketch
http://trimmiescraftchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/challenge-273-21st-of-august-sketch.html

Vintage Stamping Challenge - Summer Days
http://www.flonzcraft.com/vsc/?p=1568

I have used some Kaisercraft paper for the background.  The image is from Flonz and is an acrylic stamp.  I coloured the kitty initially with white acrylic paint and then added colour with copic markers once dried.  I matted the image on to some glitter cardstock from DCWV.  I also added a digital sentiment, some polka dot ribbon from American Crafts and some pearls from Rosie's Studio.

Happy Halloween

I went with cute rather than scary for this Halloween card:

Clear It Out Challenge - Fave colour (orange) + Anything Goes
http://clearitoutchallenge.blogspot.ca/2014/08/its-colour-challenge.html

My two favourite colours are orange and yellow.  For this card, I chose to use orange.

I have used a paper from Kaisercraft which I bought recently on clearance.  I love these papers so to get some pads on clearance was a definite bonus!  The image is from QKR Stampede and is coloured with a combination of copic markers and Distress Markers.  I matted it onto glitter cardstock only slightly larger than the circle.  The sentiment is one I printed out over a year ago and hadn't used!  I die-cut it with a Spellbinder pennant die.  I also added some bakers twine from American Crafts and some glitter domes (which were yellow until I coloured them with copic marker YR07!)

I have used some scrapbooking paper from my stash - this one isn't specifically Christmas but works well with Christmas images.  The red piece is an offcut of a paper from MME.  The image is from Digi Stamp Boutique and has been coloured with copic markers E00, G17, G14, R46, 100, E53.  I also added some bling to the elf's hat.  Matting is green cardstock.  I used three green glitter domes for embellishments.

By following the sketch, this card didn't take that long to construct:

Birthday Wishes

I have created a fun masculine birthday card.  I usually have trouble with masculine cards but by following a sketch, I found this one a little easier.

Inspirational Card

I decided on a soft palette on the outside of this card:

and an inspirational sentiment on the inside:

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

I have used a music themed paper for the background.  The pennants have been die-cut from offcuts of 2 other papers from Kaisercraft.  The image is from Eureka Stamps and has been coloured with copic markers.  I also added some pearls to the pennants.

The sentiment on the inside of the card comes from Décosse's Dynamite Doodles

Stella Says Sketch - Sketch 213
http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/stella-says-sketch-213.html

I have used a paper from Rosie's Studio with numbers on it (might be good for a Maths teacher!).  I embossed a piece of brightly coloured cardstock with a dots embossing folder.  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and is called Sunbonnet Teacher.  The sentiment is from Desert Diva.  I have matted both with some shiny cardstock from DCWV.  I have also added a row of bling underneath the image.

Pitter Patter of Little Paws Challenge

We have something exciting going on over at Scribbles Designs right now.  In addition to our regular monthly challenge, we also have a special challenge going on to welcome a new baby into the Scribbles Designs family.  Our fearless leader Sandy became a mom earlier this year to the most adorable puppy.  He is a blonde American Cocker Spaniel and his name is Charli.  You can find a picture of him over on the blog in our special challenge post by clicking HERE.
For this challenge, you must use one of seven designated images which can be requested by e-mail.  To find out more details, head on over to the challenge blog.

I have used one of the seven images in my card - Kitten Pea Pod:

I am also entering my card into these challenges:
PINspirational Challenge - Photo Inspiration (Cat)
http://pinspirationalchallenges.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/pinspirational-challenge-121.html
Penny's Paper - Christmas or Children or Critters (Critter)
http://pennyschallenges.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/welcome-to-pennys-challenges-191.html

I have used a paper from a matstack by DCWV.  I added some washi tape to the background that matched the greens in the background paper and my image and then added a sunflower where the washi tape crosses.  I coloured Kitten Pea Pod with copic markers and then die-cut with an oval die.  I added three green buttons to follow the line of the oval.  The sentiment is from Scribbles By Sandy and is called My Happiness.

Just a reminder - the usual monthly challenge is still running and you can find that one here.  And since this one has a theme of "Animal Planet" you can enter your creation for the "Pitter Patter of Little Paws Challenge" in both challenges. Of course, if you request the Dog House image, you will need to add an animal to your creation!

Lots of Kitties

My favourite animal would have to be the domestic cat (not quite so fussed on the lions, tigers, etc!).  I have pulled out my kitty paper, die-cuts, washi tape as well as a kitty image:

I am entering my card into these challenges:
A Day For Daisies - Glossy Accents (die-cut cat and word CAT on paper)
http://www.adayfordaisies.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/take-two-august-club-kit-challenge-102.html

Penny's Paper - Christmas, Children or Critters (Child and critters)
http://pennyschallenges.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/welcome-to-pennys-challenges-191.html

I have used a background paper from a pet themed matstack by DCWV.  The image is from A Day For Daisies and has been coloured with copic markers then die-cut with an oval die from Spellbinders.  I added some faux stitching using a Black Soot Distress Marker.  The cat has been die-cut from black cardstock using a Poppy Stamps Die Cut and then I added Glossy Accents over the top.   I added some washi tape at the top of the card and some orange gelato around the other edges (which I smudged a bit with my finger to soften the colour a little.

Splat

I have used my mist sprays to colour ribbon flowers before but not used them to make a background as I have in this card:

I am entering my card into these challenges:
MelJens Designs - Splat
http://meljensdesignsdt.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/challenge-223-splat.html
Clear It Out Challenge - Anything Goes

The Corrosive Challenge - B Unique (Balloon, Button, Bow)
http://corrosivechallengesbyjanet.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/challenge-206-b-unique.html

I created a background using watercolour paper and Perfect Pearls Mists - Mandarin, Sour Apple, Grape Fizz and Biscotti (sounds like items you'd find in the pantry!!!).  I added some orange satin ribbon and a bow - the ribbon is from Semco.  The image is from Meljens Designs and has been coloured to match the sprays.  The sentiment is from Scribbles By Sandy and I thought it was perfect for this image.  I have also added an orange button from my stash to the centre of the card as it just seemed to need something bright and colourful to break up the pastel colour.  The dies I have used are both Spellbinder dies.

Stripes, Polka Dots, Pearls and Summer

I found there were a few challenges around at the moment that were sponsored by Milk Coffee.  So, I decided to combine them with a lovely Milk Coffee image:

Candy Cane Amelia

I've gone with a monochromatic look to this card - just because!  Although, I might just have been inspired by the number of monochromatic challenges starting to pop up!

From The Heart Stamps - Sketch + Twist

I have used a paper from a Christmas paper pad by DCWV for the background layer.  I'm not too sure of the brand of the polka dot paper as this piece was an offcut from another card.  I layered with green cardstock.  The satin ribbon is from Semco.  The image is from From The Heart Stamps and has been coloured with copic markers and then embellished with Stickles - Star Dust.  I also added three green pearls alongside the image.

Here is the sketch and twist that I used from From The Heart Stamps:

Brr is getting ready to decorate the tree!

I love this image of Brrr getting ready to decorate the tree - only trouble is he looks like he has decorated himself instead and the tree looks very bare!

Papertake Weekly Challenge - To Die For
http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/to-die-for.html

I have used a zig-zag patterned paper from a Christmas paper pad by MME.  This wonderful image is called Twinkle Brrr from Scribbles by Sandy.  I have coloured him blue to remind me of the Little Blue Penguin (which is a penguin only found in New Zealand and Australia).  I added a yellow bow tie and yellow hat (had to sneak my favourite colour in there somewhere!).  The lights are glowing yellow too.  I die-cut a tree using Memory Box die and green glitter cardstock from DCWV.  I also added some holly washi tape and some faux stitching (using Distress Marker Pine Needles).

Christmas Tree

A simple Christmas tree which I glittered up:

The Outlawz Wednesday Challenge (sketch)
http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/wednesday-sketch/forum/topics/wednesday-sketch-challenge-08-13-14

I have used a background paper from a Christmas paper pad by DCWV.  The image is from Oak Pond Creations and has been coloured with copic markers E18, E15, G17, G14 and then Stickles added.  I also added some Stickles to some of the chevrons to match the sketch at The Outlawz Challenge.  The faux stitching around the image has been done with the appropriately named Distress Marker -  "Pine Needles".  Here in New Zealand our Christmas tree is the pine tree (or Pinus Radiata as it is correctly called!).

Happy Holidays

Santa is busy checking his list - so far everyone is on the nice list!

CRAFT Challenge - Christmas
http://trimmiescraftchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/challenge-272-14th-of-august-christmas.html

I have used a sleigh paper which comes from MME.  The image is from Dr Digi and has been coloured with copic markers.  The sentiment is a digital sentiment (can't find whose sentiment it is at the moment!).  I particularly like sentiments like this one where I can add my own colours!  I have also cut a snowflake corner die using a Memory Box die and green glitter cardstock from DCWV.  I balanced this with some green pearls in the diagonal corner.

Snowman Soup

I got out my favourite colour for this card - yellow!

I have used a Christmas paper from MME.  The image is from Nutcrafters and coloured with copic markers.  I also added some Glossy Accents and some Stickles to the image.  The fancy die-cut comes from Memory Box and has been cut from glitter cardstock from DCWV.  I also added some "waste" from another die-cut around the image and some yellow star embellishments.

Embrace your inner monkey

I thought this was just the right quote for this cheeky looking monkey image:

I have used a striped paper from Rosie's Studio for this card.  The image is from Deedee's Digis as part of the progressive challenge.  I cut the image with a Spellbinder die and then coloured with copic markers.  I added some Glossy Accents to the leaves to make them shine and some Glossy Accents and Stickles to the cupcake.  The sentiment is from Create With TLC.  I also added some small pink pearls and some medium green pearls.

Elegance

Isn't this lady so elegant.  I tried to team her up with some elegant die-cuts too:

Craft Your Passion - At least 3 Designer Papers
http://craftyourpassionchallenges.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/challenge-226-use-at-least-3-patterned.html

I have used three different papers from Scribble and Scrap from a pack called Elegance 1. I used a polka dot one for the background.  From a different polka dot one I used a Tattered Lace Die to cut a doily type embellishment.  I used a Fleur De Lis patterned paper to cut a pennant.

The image is also from Scribble and Scrap and is called Vintage Beauty 1.  I have coloured the image with copic markers.  I added three coffee coloured pearls to the bottom corner of the image as an embellishment.

What A View

This is just the sort of relaxing environment I enjoy - particularly when it is not crowded with people!  With the current lack of sun here - I would just love to be relaxing on a beach somewhere warm!

I have used a tropical themed paper from a paper pad called Paradiso from Kaisercraft.  The image is from Fresh Brewed Designs and has been coloured with copic markers YR02, YR000, BG000, Y08, Y06, G99, YG95, Y000, C2, W3, W0 plus a couple of others I forgot to write the numbers down for!  The sentiment is from the back of the Kaisercraft paper pad - it has a collection of tags and sentiments that match the papers.  I added three blue buttons.

Sock Monkey Thank You Card

When I saw the colour palette at The Outlawz Tuesday Challenge it just about stumped me!  I finally decided on this:

Love To Create - Polka Dots + Pearls
http://lovetocreatechallenge.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/challenge-129-polka-dots-and-pearls.html

I have used a corrugated iron patterned paper from Kaisercraft for this card.  I embossed a piece of shimmer cardstock from DCWV using an embossing folder.  I then stencilled some polka dots on a piece of scrap cardstock using Distress Ink - Pumice Stone and a Memory Box stencil.  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and is called Sock Monkey - September.  The sentiment is from Netty's Cards and I thought this would work perfectly for the husband of my son's German teacher who is accompanying them on an overseas trip in a few week's time.
