Merry Christmas

I didn't think I was going to have enough time to re-make this design.  This time I cut out the squares in the right size so I was able to emboss the background before adding to a card.  The earlier card can be seen here.

The background for this card was a happy accident.  I put the cardstock in upside down so I ended up with the de-bossed side on the top.  I was going to re-do it but then decided that it looked quite effective.

Wishing you the happiest of holidays

Today is the last prompt for the Month of Holiday Cards at Beccy's Place.  As usual, Beccy has made the final prompt "Do What You Love".  Instead of what I usually do - another fancy fold - I'm going to go back and do Letter N which was accidentally skipped over by Beccy.  The alphabet feels a bit incomplete without doing one of the letters!

and a different view:

By lifting up the point of the triangle, you get a more traditional looking tree but I couldn't manage to get a good photo of it in that position.  I always struggle to get good photos of never-ending cards (and some other styles) without getting my finger in the photo.

I finally did the last one of the Scraps Video that I had been working through.  I had hoped to re-do one of them (that I cut the wrong size) and also attempt some of the new Scraps Videos from the last twelve months but I don't think that is going to happen.  I suspect that this year I will end up with a reasonable number of scraps left over.

The scraps used for this card are from November cards.  I embossed the base to give more of a quilt look.  The sentiment is die cut three times using a Memory Box die (I think I might have incorrectly said Poppy Stamps die in the previous posts as they are similar packets - I checked the packet this time).   I layered the three die-cuts to give the sentiment some more dimension.

May your Christmas be filled with love and joy

This card worked for a number of challenges with themes.  I also managed to use a few scraps that came from a time before I discovered that digital papers could be re-sized to an exact size to avoid wastage.

I have used three scrap pieces of digital paper from Bearly Mine Designs.  The image is from Di's Digi Stamps and the sentiment is from Beccy's Place.  Colouring is with copic markers. I also added a large poinsettia ephemera - the outside leaves were teal which was a bit close to green so I went over them with pink copics so they are now more blue.

Joy To The World

I haven't shared anything at Gerda Steiner for some time but the twist for this sketch was to include a person so I thought that this image was perfect for that.  I teamed it up with some sheet music paper and some stars - because a guitar playing Santa is a star!

Merry Christmas Mate

Day 29 of Month of Holiday Cards at Beccy's Place.  Today's prompt is the final alphabet prompt - Letter Z.  Despite this letter being one of the more difficult ones, I had two different Z folds to choose from that I hadn't used before.   Since there are no copic markers starting with Z, I resorted to Google again and found several colours on Face Media that work.

I am still struggling to cool the room down.  I have to keep restarting the AC after 6 minutes and I get distracted and forget to do it - so the room isn't getting any cooler.  Hopefully the air temperature starts dropping a bit soon so the AC doesn't have as much work to do to cool the room down.

Sing your song

The mouth of the wolf looks like he/she is making some sort of noise so I was drawn to this particular sentiment.  The cogs involve some recycling.  The yogurt that I buy has a foil freshness seal directly under the lid.  I ran it through the die-cut machine to flatten it and then place the dies on top and ran it through again.  I took off some of the silver using some mousse and acrylic paint (the type that usually shows up a different colour on black than it does on white).

So far today, the weather is quite cool so I'm going to try and get some cards completed and uploaded.  I have quite a few that I am still working on.

I'm not sure that I got the "fantasy" part of this challenge but this Victorian image appealed to me.  Growing up the lily that I knew as a Christmas Lily was a red/pink and white variety called Lily Regale.  When I moved to the North Island of the country, the Christmas Lily is a white lily (which might be called White Heaven but I can't be certain of that).  Considering we are a small country, it is surprising that there are two different lilies that are thought of as Christmas Lily.  I am not entirely certain whether it is different between the islands or just the region that I live in now does it's own thing.

May Your Heart Be As Full as Your Stocking

I didn't think I was going to get this uploaded before I went to bed as I added something to it this evening and figured that the light wouldn't be good enough to photograph.  However, I'm quite pleased with how it photographed so I'm adding it now.

Y is one of the most difficult letters of the alphabet for images.  Beccy's Place doesn't have anything that starts with Y so I got a bit creative with an image from the Lakeside Set (which I think is now retired).  I'm not an artist at all so my attempts to add a sail to turn the rowboat into a yacht aren't that good but hopefully it sort of looks like a yacht.  I also decided to disguise the oars.  My original intention was to somehow turn them into a sail but then by the time I printed the image out and got to working on it, I forgot about that.  So, it is either a torch left on and shining out of the hull - or it's a flare (take your pick)

I think this is now the only letter where I have one tutorial (and no more than that).  So, this is the same card fold as last year:

and this is with the pull tab pulled so that the "yo-yo" spins

Candy Cane Hugs and Christmas Kisses

I have a few cards that I have been working on that are getting to the point that they are completed or nearing completion.  I have a couple that I plan to upload this evening and will probably finish the others tomorrow if the weather forecast is correct.  Today has been a great day for crafting as it was overcast all day which pulled the temperature down a bit.  We have had a bit of rain this evening so that will take care of watering the garden.

This is one of the cards that I completed today:

Wishing you a bright and happy Christmas

Day 27 of the Month of Holiday Cards at Beccy's Place and today's prompt is another of the more difficult letters - Letter X.  This is a card fold that I have used most years (had a different fold last year due to finding another X Fold).  I returned to this one as Beccy released so many images that have bells with X on them - just had to use them!

This is the cover of the card when it is closed.

The first "page" when the card is opened:

The second "page":

The third "page"

 and the fourth "page"

Most of the images and sentiments came from the same set.  This paper was one of the papers included and the colours worked well with the X colours so I just had to use it.  It is behind the images and sentiments but also on the back of the card.

I realised that with everything that has been going on this year with my eyes that I hadn't entered Morgan's Art World Challenge at all.   This particular image worked perfectly with the sketch that I was looking for so this month I'm finally participating in that challenge (along with some others).

Edit - This one glitched when I uploaded it to the Beccy's Place Challenge - I clicked on it and it does go to the correct post (just doesn't display the thumbnail).  Unfortunately, I can't delete it and reload so it will have to stay as it is.

I am way later uploading my card for Craft Roulette.  My usual aim is to get the card completed before the end of the show on Saturday.  The last couple of weeks it hasn't been uploaded until Sunday.  This is the first time that I have been a bit closer to the wire uploading it on Monday morning.

There was one of the prompts that had me stumped for a while as I don't really have supper.  I tend not to eat after dinner but I do have a hot chocolate between dinner and bed so I decided to just work of those colours.  I don't actually sit at a table to have it either as I am usually multi-tasking while drinking it.

Season - winter

Shiny - I used some shiny cardstock for matting and also a bit of Glossy Accents on the nose.

Warm Holiday Wishes

Day 24 of Month of Holiday Cards at Beccy's Place and the prompt that Beccy has given us today is Letter U.  This one is one of the harder ones.  There is only one copic marker starting with U and had to get creative and search on google for colours starting with U and then find the closest copic marker.

U is also a hard one for images.  I usually go with Under something and this year is no different.  Beccy has a new image over the past year that works well as Under.

The first photo is the front of the card with the card folded.  In case anyone is wondering that isn't a small circle punched at the bottom of the diamond, it is my fingernail.  I was trying to hold the card closed as it kept wanting to bounce open.

The card partly open (once I got my finger out of the way and stood it upright)

and the card fully open.  I cut the greeting panel into a diamond shape so that it is hidden with the card closed.

With Love

Day 23 of Month of Holiday Cards at Beccy's Place.  Today's prompt is to CASE a previous card.  I was originally going to CASE a card that I had entered in previous Month of Holiday Cards but while searching I came across a card that I had created for Beccy's Place June 2022 Challenge.
