For A Friend

After a few days cat sitting, I am back home and getting caught up on things.  Took a break from the housework to create this card:

I have used a digital paper from my Awaiting Crafting Box.  I am not sure of the source of it as I hadn't written it on the reverse and I have several similar blue digital papers!  The image is from Fred She Said and the sentiment is typed on the computer.  Colouring is with copic markers and inking with Distress Ink.  I also added some washi tape and flower stickers.

This week at CHNC, our optional twist is "Embossing - Wet or Dry"

I have used an embossing folder and then inked it after embossing.  The image is from Scribbles Designs.  Colouring is with copic markers and Kindy Glitz.

Happiness looks gorgeous on you

In the process of blogging my August card for the NZ Swap Group, I found that the June one was still in Drafts, so here it is:

I followed a tutorial for a Die Cuts Background by Natasha Foote.

The base is white cardstock which I embossed using an embossing folder.  I then die-cut several dies using white cardstock and adhered them to the base.  The next step was adding the Distress Inks using the refill bottles.  It is probably much easier to follow Natasha's video than my description!

To finish the card, I added a vellum sentiment which I tucked under the front panel.  I adhered the front panel to a card blank.

Hi

I am a member of a New Zealand Card Swap Group.  In August, we had a video technique to follow.  I was a bit sceptical as to how mine would turn out but in the end I am very pleased with the result and although this technique was very much on the messy side, it was fun to do.

I have used a paper from a paper pad.  The edges are inked with Distress Ink.  I diecut the floral scene using a Memory Box die and the lettering is a Tattered Lace die which came with one of their magazines.

I followed a tutorial for a Faux Torn Mosaic background.

Sweet

This is the final project for the Gecko Galz August Challenges.  After finishing this one, I'm not happy that I chose the red from the image for the matting.  I feel I should have gone with the pale blue instead but it is what it is.

I would like to enter:

Gecko Galz - Monthly Image Challenge
http://geckogalzscrapbooking.blogspot.com/p/gecko-galz-image-challenge-of-month.html

I have used a digital paper, image and sentiment from Gecko Galz.  I also added some gold pearls as accents.

Be Like A Mermaid and Seas The Day!

I wasn't planning on this card being monochromatic but after picking out some of the colours in the background paper to use on the image I realised it was heading that way.   So I just went with it.

 I would like to enter:

Gecko Galz -  Stamp Challenge
http://geckogalzscrapbooking.blogspot.com/p/gecko-galz-stamp-challenge.html

I have used a digital paper, image and sentiment from Gecko Galz.  Colouring is with copic markers and Wink of Stella.       I also added some pale blue oval gems.

Let It Snow

This is a really sweet image which I enjoyed crafting with.   I picked out the red from the ribbon in the image for the matting and ribbon I added.

I would like to enter:

Gecko Galz - Christmas Image Challenge
http://geckogalzscrapbooking.blogspot.com/p/gecko-galz-monthly-christmas-challenge.html

I have used a digital paper, image and sentiment from Gecko Galz.  I also added some red organza ribbon (to match the ribbon in the image) and a 3D topper.

Zen Time

We are having a staggered posting for the challenge at Scribbles Designs.  This month, it is Scribbles 9th birthday.  There are a few jigsaws to complete throughout the month, so make sure you head over to Scribbles Designs Blog to complete them.

It is my turn to post today and this is the card that I created:

I have used a digital paper from Scribble Doodle Designs.  The zentangle image is from Scribbles Designs.

You Can Go Your Own Way

The words that I have used on this are lyrics from a song but I think they work really well with this unusual Steampunk image.

I would like to enter:

Gecko Galz - Steampunk Challenge
http://geckogalzscrapbooking.blogspot.com/p/gecko-galz-monthly-steampunk-challenge.html

I have used a digital paper, image and sentiment from Gecko Galz.  I used gold cardstock for matting.  I used the same gold cardstock to die-cut some gears using a die from Memory Box.

Here in the darkness I know myself

Not far from where I live, a new housing subdivision has been built.  It is located near an area of an endangered bat species and has certain rules in place to protect them. One of these is that pet cats are not allowed. When I saw this image of the girl with the bat, I knew I wanted to work with a bat theme with that in mind.  The sentiment is from the bat's viewpoint as they are nocturnal creatures.

I have used a digital paper, image and sentiment from Gecko Galz.  The fussy cut bats are also from Gecko Galz.

Hope Your Birthday's A Hoot

I liked the colour choices for the August Challenge at Beccy's Place as two of them were in one of Beccy's digital papers.  I used the other colour for matting and colouring the image.

Carlin's Map Paradise - Anything Goes
https://carlinskaartenparadijs.blogspot.com/2022/08/challenge-49-augustus.html

I have used a digital paper, image and sentiment from Beccy's Place.  Colouring is with copic markers in mostly the three colours for the optional twist to her challenge.  I also added some self-adhesive glitter chipboard bows and three glitter domes.

I had this weird thing going on this month when I entered Carlin's Map Paradise where it added an i to my name as it processed it so this time I entered with "Suze (no i)" thinking it would change my name again and it didn't.  Goodness knows what is going on with that particular linky tool as it isn't happening anywhere else.

Arthurian Legends

The theme for the August Challenge at Gecko Galz is Myths and Legends.  I have used many items from a Gecko Galz kit and as a result this post is a little photo heavy.

Outside of the box when closed:

The left side of the concertina once the box is opened:

and the right side of the concertina:

close up of a pocket and it's contents.  The one on the left is a tent fold card which could be used for adding the greeting (another place for a greeting is in another photo).

A close up of a pocket for some sentiment tags:

The base of the box.  This is another alternative for the message to the recipient.  I'm still deciding whether I gift this or keep it for myself.

Christmas Journal - Elf Photo page

We are at the midway point of the Celebrate Your Creative Self Challenge at Path of Positivity.  For the start of the Challenge, I shared the cover of the December Journal I am creating.  As well as clicking on the Challenge link above, it can also be found here.  I am now starting on the internal pages for the journal:

I have used a digital paper from Beccy's Place.  The image is also from Beccy's Place.  Colouring is with copic markers.  I added some bauble stickers as well as some Nuvo drops at the top and bottom of the page to break up the green.

The image piece is a folded piece that allows for photos to be added into the inside.  I participate in the Elf Antics at DL Art each December and I take a number of photographs of my elf Ron for that.  This year, I am going to add some to this journal page as it is such a big part of my December.

I discovered a weird thing today (which has probably been happening for a while and I didn't notice).  I enter Carlin's Map Paradise with my name (Suze) and for some reason it adds an "i" when it publishes it.  I also doubt that my computer is translating the Challenge name correctly.

Life Is Better In Summer

We have had a bit of sun for the last couple of days.  As we approach Spring, hopefully we will see more of it.  It made me think of the summer weather coming later in the year - and inspired a summery card.  While lighthouses aren't specifically a summer thing, it is certainly much more pleasant to walk from the car park to the lighthouse in summer weather.

Merry and Bright

This week at CHNC, the optional twist is "No Stamp or Digital Image"

I tend to have most of the toppers, etc that are in the back of the paper pad left over after all the papers in the paper pad have been used.  This is a great theme for using one of them.

I have used a paper from a paper pad by Kaisercraft.  I also added a topper from a paper pad.

Hello

I had a lot of difficulty with this card which I'll explain below.

I would like to enter:

The Outlawz Challenge - Monday Sentiment - Hello
https://theoutlawzchallenges-monday.blogspot.com/2022/08/monday-greetings-happy-hellos.html

The idea with this card was to die-cut the same image twice.  The first one was to be coloured on either the front or reverse and "printed" on to the card front.  The second one is coloured in the same materials and then added to the front of the card once dried.  There should be a shadowy print in the background.  The first time I did this I couldn't see the "printed" die cut at all.  This one is the second attempt and is only marginally better.  As we didn't have a video tutorial to follow and I'm a very visual learner, I couldn't figure out what I had done wrong.  I don't do well following written instructions as you can see.  If you look very very closely at the card you may be able to make out the "print".

I also added a sentiment from an adhesive chipboard sheet.

For You Friend

It is time for the reveal of the cards sent during the month of June by the Card Chain Challenge participants.  I sent my card to Joanne in CT.

These were the prompts for July

I have followed the sketch and the colours.  I also used the bird and friendship themes as well as the "something a friend sent you' and the stitches appear around the message on the inside of the card.

The birds are coloured digi images from Blackberry Jelly and the sentiment is by From The Heart Stamps.  The check piece in the background was sent to me by another CCC participant some time ago.  Unfortunately, I didn't make a note of who sent it to me.

Lia in Netherlands sent me a card in July but as I am currently away from home, I don't know whether it has arrived or not.  I don't want to ruin the surprise by looking at the card before I receive it so I haven't included it here.
