The Long and Winding Road

When I first saw this inspiration picture, I thought of The Beatles hit tune "The Long and Winding Road".  From there my brain went on to beetles and hence the image that I chose.  A bit random - but I can be like that sometimes!!!!

CHNC - Anything Christmas

I have used papers from Provo Craft matted with blue cardstock.  The image is Frostina from Sassy Studio Designs.  The snowflake is one that I bought in a grab bag a few years ago.  Just in case you haven't come across the term grab bag - it is when a retailer puts a few items in a bag and sells it at a discount price.  The bag is not see-through so it is a bit of a mystery as to what you are buying!  Usually the items are end of line or clearance items but not always.  I think from memory this snowflake was in a bag that I paid $20 for - but the value of the items was $60.  It is a bit of a gamble as to whether you will like what is in the bag but I remember not being disappointed with this one!!

Winter Wonderland

It seems so weird making a card in cool winter colours with lots of snow......when I am currently sweating in a humid environment.  Summer seems to have finally arrived and with it the over-warm temperatures that I am not fond of unless I am in the water.

I am entering my snowy card into the following challenges:

*****  I had trouble uploading this one and started again so that it would include the image as well.  However, I forgot to put the #6 on the second time that I attempted to upload it.*****

Tis The Season

My Christmas lilies think it is already the season!  They starting flowering on November 24th - a month too early.  They'll be lucky to last out in flower until December!  Sadly, this is the last challenge at The Outlawz CFC progressive challenge.  I have really enjoyed this challenge and I wish to thank everyone who has played a part in it.

I am entering my wreath card into the following challenges:

I have used a wreath background paper for this card overlaid with some olive green mesh ribbon.  The image is from Anne Fenton as part of this last CFC Challenge.  I coloured the image with copic markers, die-cut using a Spellbinders scallop circle die and then doodled in the scallops with Distress Markers - Pine Needles and Forest Berries.  I added three pearls to the mesh ribbon for a bit of extra dimension.

Bit By The Bug - New Beginnings

This post was scheduled to go out in the middle of the night last night (while I was asleep).  It is my first time scheduling anything so you would think that I would have checked it when I got up this morning.  However, trusting soul that I am I had assumed that it would have worked.  Just discovered now (some 18 hours later) that it was still sitting there unpublished!

You are going to want to go and visit Creative Bug on the Loose today because a new Bug has been born. Naomi is sharing with the world her newest release:

Christmas Tree

Here is my card that I created using this wonderful digi:

I have used a paper from a paper pad.  I used the offcut from the card front and layered it on to pink cardstock to create some extra dimension.  The image has been coloured with copic markers and die cut with a Spellbinders die.   I have added a felt tree as an embellishment and then embellished that with some small gold glitter domes.

Thank You Teacher

Another Thank You card for a teacher - with more of a masculine feel to the card.  Now, I probably need to explain the addition of Christmas trees on this card.  Our school year differs from countries in the Northern Hemisphere in that it runs the calendar year.  The end of our school year is in December so we tend to combine Thank You and Christmas cards for the teachers of our children - both in school and at out of school activities.  My children then take a break - school starts back in February with some sports and cultural activities starting in January and the rest starting when school starts back.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Jingle Belles - Thank You

I'm not sure whether my card quite fits the Jingle Belles challenge as it did say to "send out after the holidays" whereas as this will be given out before the holidays.  However, it is a Thank You and Christmas card in one, so I decided to upload it anyway!

I have used a black card blank.  The papers are from a Christmas paper pad by MME.  The image is from Meljens Designs Studio and coloured with copic markers.  I have also added some red and green buttons from my Mum's button box.

Framed Thank You

A bit of a framed thing going on with this card.  Once I started, I sort of ran with it!

The papers that I have used are from two different paper pads.   I'm not sure where the main one is from as the cover is missing.  The other one is form Kaisercraft.  The image that I have used is a 2012 image from Digi Stamp Boutique.  I have also used a sentiment from Sans Designs, some satin ribbon from American Crafts, a snowflake crafted from pearlised paper using a Spellbinders die, and a pearl.  Colouring is with copic markers.  Matting is red cardstock.

Before I forget - this is the sketch that I followed:

*** I have just had a comment that this particular Santa is not acceptable for the Winter Wonderland challenge.  I am seeking clarification on that as he looks okay to me but at this stage, my entry into Winter Wonderland challenge has been disqualified.

Snowman in Traditional Colours

I seemed to have made so many Christmas cards in non-traditional colours, I thought it was time to use more traditional colours!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

I have used some papers from Provo Craft that fit very well with the image.  The image is from Dilly Beans and coloured with copic markers.  I have matted using silver pearlised cardstock.  I used a combination of red and green brads on this card.  The image was die-cut using a Nellie Snellen Multi Frame die.

A Cupcake - Just For you

The inspiration for this card comes from a challenge that is "No Designer Paper".  Anyone who knows me knows that I love working with papers so this was a bit of a challenge for me.  However, I am so pleased with the end result that I am glad that I tackled this challenge.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

The Outlawz Wednesday Challenge - Sketch
http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/sketchchallenge/forum/topics/wednesday-sketch-challenge-november-20

I stippled the square card blank with some Distress Ink - Worn Lipstick using a shaving brush.  I embossed some red foil card with a Sizzix embossing folder and then rounded the corners (by hand as I couldn't locate my punch!). The image is from Delicious Doodles and coloured with copic markers E000, YR68, YR23, R35, R11, E50.  The sentiment is from Sans Designs.  I also added some pink pearls and peeloff border stickers.

The layout follows the sketch at The Outlawz Wednesday challenge.

I have to say that I was worried that the foil wouldn't photograph well but fortunately my worries were unfounded!

So Nice to Sea You

I love sentiments like this one!

I have used a balloon themed paper from a paper pad called Hootenany by MME.  The image and sentiment are from Imagine That as part of the progressive challenge.  I used a ribbon slider die for the sentiment and a labels die for the image and offset matting - both dies are from Spellbinders.  I added some faux stitching using Distress Markers - Dusty Concord and Picket Fence.  I also added three lavender pearls.  The grosgrain ribbon threaded through the ribbon slider is from Creation Station.

Set Your Heart on Something Beautiful

I thought this was such a lovely sentiment on the paper that I would work it into the sketch I was following!

I have used a couple of papers from a girlie themed matstack by DCWV.  The matting is pink cardstock.  The image is Angel Cake by Nutcrafters which I coloured with copic markers E000, E29, E25, Y11, R11, G21, RV42.  The ribbon is a Christmas ribbon although the holly is sitting behind the image!  The green border was an offcut from the paper used to cover the front of the card.  I have also added a pink rhinestone and some dark pink pearls.

For the Men in your Life

I'm a bit late getting this post up.  It has been one of those weeks where time just seems to fly by!  The new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs is to create a card "For the Men in Your Life".  Always a difficult challenge for me.  This week our sponsor is Stamp Fairy and here is the card I made using one of their lovely images called Barry Fishing:

I decided to go with a bit of a monochromatic colour scheme with just a hint of other colours.  The paper is from DCWV - Natural matstack.  I have used some brown grosgrain ribbon from American Crafts along with some chocolate brown cardstock for matting.  The button is from my Mum's button box.  As I said above, the image is from Stamp Fairy and has been coloured with copic markers and then die-cut with a Nellie Snellen Multi Frame die.

Seeds

A gardening themed card - maybe to remind me to get in to the garden and do something about all the weeds!!!

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
Ike's World - Photo Inspiration
http://ikesworldchallengeblog.blogspot.co.nz/2013/11/ikesworld-challenge-5-photo-inspiration.html

I have used a paper from Décosse's Dynamite Doodles for the background.  The image is a freebie from Ike's World given as part of this challenge.  I could have used any Ike's World image but this one appealed to me.  Colouring is with copic markers - which of course I forgot to write the numbers down on a piece of paper!

Bonsai

I used to have a boss who would regularly bring a bonsai tree in to work.  It would be a different one every week - not sure how many he had at home but it must have been a lot!  This tree brought back memories of him:

I liked this paper from Kaisercraft the first time I saw it but have never felt it right for any card that I was working on.  For this card, I felt it was perfect!  I have also used some wide cream mesh ribbon and dotted some pearls in the flower centres.  The image is from Digi Stamps 4 Joy and colorued with copic markers.  I faux stitched using a Distress Marker - Pine Needles.  I also faux stitched on the green cardstock matting using a Distress Marker - Picket Fence.

I have used a background paper from a paper pad.  The image is from Crafty Sentiments and coloured with copic markers and Stickles - Black Diamond and Diamond.  The snowflake is a Spellbinders die cut from black cardstock.

When you do things in a rush, it pays to take a breath and check what you are doing!  I had another older card open and accidentally linked that one up!  I noticed with about a minute left on the challenge and managed to make sure there was a link to this one.  I have posted a comment that #184 needs to be deleted but thought I would add it to this post too!  I had a few issues when completing this card as I couldn't find my black markers.  I ended up using a paint brush with re-inker dropped on to it so that I could colour the leaves.  I'm pleased to say that it worked!

I have used a background paper from Kaisercraft.  I layered an orange starry grosgrain ribbon from American Crafts over the top of a brown organza ribbon.  I also tied a knotted piece from the leftover orange grosgrain.  The image is Ava Swing from Bugaboo Stamps which has been coloured with copic markers and then matted on to both orange and brown cardstocks.

Poinsettia Tag Card

A combination of a card and a tag for this card:

CHNC - Anything Christmas
http://craftyhazelnutschristmaschallenge2.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/chnc-challenge-extra-for-november.html

I decided to add my tag to a card when I found this lovely poinsettia paper in a paper pad.  I thought it was the perfect backdrop for this tag.  The tag is created from a Floppy Latte image which I coloured with copic markers.  I hand-cut the tag shape - so it could be a bit wonky but surely that adds to the charm!!  I also added a couple of green glitter domes on the diagonal.

Stars and Snowflakes

A slightly more traditional Christmas card this time:

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

I have used a Christmas paper from a paper pad by MME.  The pennants have been cut from various offcuts of cardstock.  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and coloured with copic markers.  The Merry Christmas sentiment is from Sans Designs.

Snow Lady

Another non-traditional colour scheme for my Christmas card since I had a snow lady image to work with!

CHNC - Anything Christmas
http://craftyhazelnutschristmaschallenge2.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/chnc-challenge-extra-for-november.html

The image this time is from Fred She Said and is called Snow Lady.  I have coloured her with copic markers.  The snowflake is a Spellbinders die cut from pearl paper.  I have also added a candy striped ribbon from American Crafts and some pink pearls.

Western Dudley

Dudley is all dressed up in western gear!

http://totallypapercrafts.blogspot.co.nz/2013/11/challenge-193-clean-simple.html

I have used a paper from MME for the background.  Dudley is from Doodle Dragon Studios and has been coloured with copic markers.  I stitched a border around the edge of the Spellbinders Labels die using a Distress Marker - pumice stone.  I also added a glittery rhinestone.

Western Gal

I won this stamp in one of the challenges at The Outlawz a couple of months ago and hadn't had a chance to use it before this!

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
QKR Stampede - Western Days

Musically Challenged - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
http://musicallychallengedchallenge.blogspot.gr/2013/11/girls-just-want-to-have-fun-challenge-12.html

I didn't originally set out to create a CAS card but every embellishment I added just seemed too much so in the end I went with a CAS feeling.  I have used a paper from MME for the background.  I added a piece of deep red grosgrain ribbon from American Crafts.  The image is from Bombshell Stamps. and has been coloured with copic markers R59, R46, E08, E04, E00, W7.  I used some deep red cardstock and also some chocolate brown cardstock for the matting.  All the circles have been cut using Spellbinders circle dies.

My inspiration for the Musically Challenged video comes from the beginning where she is wearing the hat.  She also has something around the top of her dress which kind of looks like what this girl is wearing.

White on white - with a splash of brown

For me, anything to do with snow is not my typical Christmas!  We have Christmas in the middle of summer here in New Zealand.  So, I have worked with a white on white colour scheme with just a splash of brown added.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Sassy Studio Designs - PCP

CHNC - Anything Christmas

I have embossed a piece of white cardstock using a Christmas themed embossing folder.  The image has been coloured with Distress Marker - Picket Fence and then die-cut using a Marianne's Designs die.  I also added a touch of Stickles - Diamond and some Glossy Accents to the image.  I found some white ribbon with Merry Christmas printed in white on it so have added that to the top and bottom of the card.  A few white pearls to add a bit of dimension.

Gift Bag

More of a spring gift bag - probably while I am wishing for decent spring weather - at the moment it is starting to feel more like winter!

I am entering my gift bag into the following challenges:
CRAFT Challenge
http://trimmiescraftchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/challenge-233-14th-of-november-gift-bag.html

I have used a template created from a gift bag by Patty Wraps.  The paper is a scrapbook paper that I have had for a while.  I think it is meant to be more of a sympathy paper but teamed with spring flowers it looks spring like.  The image is from My Heart Pieces and is coloured with copic markers  E71, YR20, YG41
