Good Times

The colours of summer for me are the ones associated with swimming - whether it be at a beach or a pool.

I would like to enter:
Gecko Galz - The Colour of Summer
http://geckogalzscrapbooking.blogspot.com/2020/06/the-color-of-summerjune-challenge.html

I have used a digital paper from Gecko Galz.  The images are all from Gecko Galz.  I mounted them on white cardstock so that they looked like photos and montaged them with some sentiments.

Swim

As soon as I saw the Gecko Galz monthly image for June, I knew what I wanted to do with it.  It has taken the rest of the month to actually carry that out!

I coach swimmers and need a book to write the programmes in.  There is nothing worse than a plain book so I decorated the front of it:

I masked off the left hand side so the spine is still the same colour as the book orginally was.  I applied gesso to the remainder of the front cover.   Once the gesso was dry, I think applied some acrylic paints in a swirly pattern.  I let that dry and then added some Cosmic Shimmer in blue and white over the top.
Once I had the background done, I stuck down the image, lettering and some ephemera.  I still have to seal the front cover to keep it clean but have learnt from experience to do that after I photograph it.

Let It Snow

This week at CHNC, the optional twist is Use a Snowflake or Snowflakes

I have used some smaller pieces of digital paper from Bugaboo Stamps to create the top piece. The image/sentiment is also from Bugaboo Stamps.  Colouring is with copic markers.  I aded some gems to complete the card.

I followed the sketch at Stella Says Sketch:

The sea embellishments are also purchased at Go!NZ.  They have lots of interesting craft items (as lots of other stuff).  Matting is textured cardstock from a pad by DCWV.

Moments In Life

I have actually managed to complete the monthly progressive challenge at The Outlawz without it being the last day or so!  Go Me.

I would like to enter:
The Outlawz Freebie Progressive Challenge -
http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/freebie-progressive-challenge/forum/topics/progressive-freebie-challenge-june-2020

I have followed a tutorial for a Scrappy Strip Technique background.  I am loving this technique for using up all my smaller bits of digital papers.  In this case, I had already coloured the horse and discovered that I had a number of smaller pieces of paper that co-ordinated with it.   The striped paper is from When The Scrap Hits The Fun

The image is from Hetty Clare Art and is called Pony Plait.  Colouring of the image is with copic markers.  I added a sentiment from My Sugar Paper but I'm not sure of the sources of the other two papers.

Happy Birthday

This card was a good chance to use up some of my small scrap pieces of digital paper from Beccy's Place.

I followed a tutorial for a Scrappy Strip Technique for the background of the card.

I had intended for this to be masculine but somehow in the process of creating this card, it took on a life of its own and has ended up more feminine than I intended.

You Are My World

I am having one of my days where I have been tired all day long and now that it is time for bed I feel energised and wide awake.  I'm trying to break that cycle but so far have been unsuccessful.   At least it meant that I finished this card that I had started earlier in the week.

My First card sent for Card Chain Challenge

I couldn't find the post for my first card so I am writing a new one.  I first joined in October 2019 and have joined in every month since then.  As our post offices weren't open for a while, I couldn't buy stamps for overseas cards. I ended up sending to a fellow New Zealander for May so that I didn't break my chain of joining in.

I sent this card to Robyn in Australia in October 2019.

My Favourite Card Chain Challenge card received

This one was a difficult one to do.  I have ended up sharing my second favourite card as I am unable to post a picture of my favourite card until after the "reveal" at the beginning of next month!

This lovely card came from Greta for the February 2020 exchange.

I am rather late uploading this post - it has been one of those days!  So, the latest Anything Goes Challenge at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends started 16 hours ago.  The sponsor for this challenge is The Paper Shelter.

I have used an image from The Paper Shelter called Birthday Cupcake

I also used a digital paper from AMB Illustrations.  Colouring is with copic markers and Wink Of Stella.  I added a doily, some gold ribbons and some stars and a corner embellishment die-cut from gold cardstock.

Merry Christmas

This week our optional twist at CHNC is "Use some washi tape".  The red polka dot and green stripe are both washi tape while the pale blue and pale red are digital papers.

I have used two digital papers from Bugaboo Stamps alternately with washi tape.  The image and sentiment are from Bugaboo Stamps.  I added some pearls to two of the corners.

I followed one of the sketches at Sweet Sketch Wednesday.

Harp Angel

I was cutting this a bit on the fine side to complete it before one of the challenges I was planning to enter closed.  I made it but with only a few minutes to spare.  That is what happens when you get distracted with other things - like sorting out some of my craft embellishments.  At least they will be alot easier to find now.

The image is the Progressive Freebie image for the challenge at Limited Runs which finished on 13th June (which is about when this post should have been uploaded!).  I'm not sure of the source of the sentiment.  Colouring of the image is with copic markers.

Birdhouse

For the next month, our challenge at Scribbles Designs is a "Flip A Coin" Challenge.  Here is the board to follow:

I wasn't initally happy with what I tossed, but in the end it worked out.  He is what I tossed:

Tails - Create A Card with at least 3 layers - 7-8 layers (one hidden)
Heads - Rectangle/Square - Rectangle
Heads - Follow Tutorial - Scrappy Strip Technique
Tails - Ribbon/Twine - ribbon
Tails - Recycled/Upcycled - foil lid from hummis container (washed and flattened)

I have used the following:
Scribbles Designs - Birdhouse 2
Scribble Doodle Designs - Flower 1 Digi Paper
Scribble Doodle Designs - Flower 7 Digi Paper
Scribble Doodle Designs - Sunflower Digi Paper

The background is made from strips of digital papers from Scribble Doodle Designs attached to some copper cardstock.  That has then been layered onto another piece of the copper cardstock so there is a border around the edge.  I then layered it on to the card base.  At this stage, there are four layers.

The raised piece is the foil lid from the hummus container attached to some white cardstock for stability.  I attached a piece of cream ribbon over the top.  Then I attached the image coloured with copic markers and Wink of Stella.

NZ Card Swap - June

I am a member of a NZ card swap group.  Each month, one of us has a turn on picking the challenge theme for the swap.  This month, the person choosing decided on the Retiform technique.  We had a couple of You Tube videos to use as inspiration:

 Retiform Technique

 Partial Retiform Technique

I chose to follow the first one.

I used two Distress Inks for the background then used another one for the stamping.  I also used one of the background inks on the sentiment.  The stamping of the background is using clear stamps from Marianne's Designs.  The sentiment is a digital sentiment from Create with TLC.  I also added some olive green grosgrain ribbon.
